Day 28.
Apologies for the lack of blogging, the weeks have flown by. It seems the new routine of cutting vegetables constantly, cooking three meals a day and fitting in the exercise has made for a pretty busy life!
Current weight is just over 96kg's, so I would appear to have lost just under 5 kgs in the first month.
I have been pretty good on the exercises, I have swapped skipping for running on a few occasions as i am also training for an overnight hike and need to keep that up. Might try to run and skip this week to see how that goes.
Indulgence day this week was interesting. Having heard about them from others who have done the program, I was looking forward to it. However after reading Patricks mail announcing it i didn't rush out and eat the first cake i could find. I waited till Friday and had a couple of glasses of red wine. It was nice, although not as nice as i expected. Might have been the wine itself, not sure.
Woke up 6am saturday to watch the Billabong pro surf contest in Tahiti. If you haven't seen the waves at this place, I recommend looking at it on the internet. Incredibly impressive. As a result of being up so early spent the rest of the day quite tired, but still managed to drag myself to the gym for a session wth the trainer and also a run on the treadmill. Felt better after and went to movies with my wife. Treat myself to a diet coke.....
Anyway, back to watching the surfing......seem to be waking up v early these days.

Week 2 end
So end of week 2, well almost.
Weight is now 99.5kgs - lost a little bit, started at around the 101 mark. Did an analysis at the gym and current body fat 24.5%, so my aim is to get that down in the teens all being well. Starting to feel a little more toned, so that is encouraging.
The diet has gone ok, I have generally found the breakfasts hard going and not yet managed to eat all i am supposed to. Lunch and dinner is fine, although I have found myself a little hungry late in the day, i am guessing this is because I am used to backloading my food intake at the end of the day. The challenge is in planning for the food in advance. I am already a little bored of the food and need to get more creative with the options.
I have managed to avoid cheating on snacks entirely, which i am proud of. In the afternoons i have been drinking a very large mint tea (venti in starbucks terms) which has been helping stave off afternoon sugar cravings.
We were a little naughty Friday and had a few drinks as we had a visitor in town, i did manage to avoid junk food during and after though, so perhaps a small victory, but concious that I should cut out the booze entirely. I am going to punish myself by working hard in the gym later and may even do some hot yoga to really sweat it out.
Exercises are fine, if a little easy at this point in time. I have been increasing the reps in most cases to try and get to the"burn" point. I am guessing this will increase as we go forwards. I am not a big fan of skipping still, but getting better at it. I am still going to the gym and I have also started running again this week, which is challenging in the heat. But good to get a sweat on. Whilst i want to lose fat, i also want to get fitter from a cardio perspective and i am not convinced i will achieve this from skipping alone. We haven't received our bands yet (ordered from amazon) so have been compromising with our old handleless bands and dumbells.
Anyway. Its about time to hit the gym again so will update again next week.

End of week 1 update
So, week one has ended. I haven't been the most prolific blogger, but here are some highlights.
Equipment - we picked this up, including electric scales on tuesday. First weigh in I was:
101kg
The half diet was interesting, started the week feeling quite hungry, but the big challenge came on Friday. Normally the day when I am at my most unhealthy, with quite a few drinks and a meal out the norm.
This Friday I went for a swim at the beach straight after work with my wife and then on to a light dinner at a beach front thai restaurant. All in all pretty good. Then went home and had half a bottle of wine.
Saturday (minus a hangover) I got up and collected our freshly delivered box of organic vegetables and we used this to make an egg white omelette, which was very nice. Then headed off for a nice hike from discovery bay to Mui Wu in Lantau. Very hot and sweaty (33 deg) but we did it quite quickly and then had a nice refreshing dip in the sea to cool off.
We got home, did the mandatory pcp exercises (I have been trying to do more than the minimum sets and reps) and then got ready for going out. Quick dinner on the waterfront in stanley (not quite half portions, i shared a starter, had a salad for main and no dessert) then off to the movies. Diet coke, no pop corn or snacks.
Home - half a bottle of wine, or to be more accurate, shared two different half bottles. knowing that next week will get tough, I wanted to savour a couple of last drinks!! Very nice....
Turkey flats barossa shiraz 06
D'Arenberg The Dead Arm 07
Both highly recommend, and a nice last drink before the painful period starts!!!
Anyway...better go, have some skipping to do.

So, day 3 over. So far so good, have felt a little hungry with the half diet, but not too bad. We bought all of our equipment today so had my first go of proper press ups and will now start the regular weigh ins!
